Amaravati is set to be included on India’s bullet train map after the Centre granted preliminary approval for two high-speed rail corridors — Hyderabad–Chennai and Hyderabad–Bengaluru. The project is expected to significantly enhance intercity connectivity across South India.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu stated that the proposed bullet train network will revolutionise travel across Hyderabad, Amaravati, Chennai and Bengaluru. A detailed survey has already been ordered to assess the project’s implementation.
The bullet train connectivity will cater to over five crore people across these four major cities and strengthen logistics and economic activity once operational.
Officials confirmed that the Hyderabad–Chennai and Hyderabad–Bengaluru corridors will transform regional connectivity across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Both corridors will share a common stretch up to Shamshabad before diverging towards their respective destinations.
The Hyderabad–Chennai corridor will pass through key locations including Amaravati, Guntur, Chirala, Ongole, Kavali, Nellore, Naidupeta and Tada. Meanwhile, the Hyderabad–Bengaluru corridor will cover Kurnool, Anantapur, Duddebandha and Hindupur, with Duddebandha identified as a major stop due to nearby industrial hubs.
Once completed, these corridors will form a bullet train quadrilateral linking Hyderabad, Amaravati, Chennai and Bengaluru, enabling intercity travel in just one to two hours.
